How to Share the Gospel with Muslims

As a Muslim-background believer, I clearly remember the day a Christian shared the Gospel with me for the first time. That conversation did not begin with debate—it began with a relationship. We had already built a trusted, healthy connection. She was bold yet gentle. She prayed for me and my family, read Scripture with us, and shared how Jesus had transformed and healed her life.
In that moment, I felt something I had never experienced before—the God of the universe was knocking on the door of my heart.
Shortly after that conversation, my entire family gave our lives to Jesus. For the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of serving the persecuted Church in the Muslim world, witnessing firsthand God’s goodness, His protection, countless miracles, and the life-transforming power of the Gospel.
Perhaps you feel God calling you to share the Gospel with Muslims—but you’re asking, “How?”
Here are seven practical, Spirit-led steps I’ve learned through years of ministry among Muslims and underground house churches.
1. Build Relationships Rooted in Love, Respect, and Trust
Muslims are not projects—they are people deeply loved by God. If they sense that your only goal is to convert them, they will close their hearts. But when they see genuine love, they will open their lives.
Take time to build trust. Share meals. Celebrate together. Listen to their stories. Learn their culture. Honor their background.
The Gospel travels best at the speed of relationship.
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” (John 1:14, ESV)
Just as Jesus came near to us, we must be willing to come near to them.
2. Start with Your Story
Do not begin with arguments—begin with testimony.
Your story is powerful because it is real. Muslims deeply respect personal stories. Share how Jesus met you, healed you, saved you, and transformed your life.
But don’t stop there—anchor your story in Scripture.
“Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul.” (Psalm 66:16, ESV)
When I first heard the Gospel, the Scriptures spoken through someone’s testimony became like medicine to my wounded heart. Remember: it is not your words that change lives—it is the Word of God.
“For the word of God is living and active…” (Hebrews 4:12, ESV)
3. Ask How You Can Pray for Them
Many Muslims may not be ready to hear the Gospel—but almost all are open to prayer.
When you ask, “Can I pray for you?” The answer is often yes.
Why? Because Muslims believe in prayer—but many have never experienced the power of prayer in the name of Jesus.
Pray boldly. Pray specifically. Pray Scripture.
“The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16, ESV)
Pray for their needs, their families, their healing, and their relationship with God. Invite the Holy Spirit to move. And always boldly pray in the name of Jesus.
4. Create Space for Questions
Muslims often carry deep and sincere questions—about the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the crucifixion, and the resurrection.
Do not fear these questions—welcome them.
Listen patiently. Respond with grace and truth. Never argue to win—answer to reveal Christ.
“Always being prepared to make a defense… yet do it with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15, ESV)
You are not called to win debates—you are called to point people to Jesus.
5. Put the Word of God in Their Hands
Many Muslims have never read the Bible for themselves.
This is one of the most powerful steps you can take.
Give them a Bible in their own language. Help them download a Bible app. Encourage them to start with the New Testament, especially the Gospels.
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17, ESV)
I have seen countless Muslims encounter Jesus simply by reading Scripture. The Word of God speaks for itself.
6. Invite Them into Christian Community
Many Muslims have never experienced authentic Christian worship or fellowship. What they know is often shaped by misinformation.
Invite them to church. Invite them to your home. Invite them into your Christian community.
Let them see love. Let them feel the presence of God.
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35, ESV)
Moments like Christmas, Easter, or even a simple worship night can become divine appointments.
7. Live the Gospel Daily
Your life is your loudest message.
Serve them. Help them. Be present in their needs. Show kindness in practical ways—rides, meals, paperwork, friendship.
Let them see Jesus in you.
“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father…” (Matthew 5:16, ESV)
Actions open doors that words alone never can.
The Mission Is Urgent
Millions of Muslims around the world are searching for truth, peace, and hope. Many are encountering Jesus in dreams and visions—but God is also calling you to be part of their story.
“How are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?” (Romans 10:14, ESV)
This is not just a strategy—it is a calling.
Call to Action
Start today.
Pray for one Muslim friend by name
Build a relationship intentionally
Share your story boldly
Offer to pray
Trust the Holy Spirit to do the work
You don’t need to have all the answers—you just need to be available.
God is already at work. Will you join Him?
